IGUAZU - World’s WIDEST waterfall - borders Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil

THURS, NOV 6 – PARATODO, PARAGUAY TO FOZ DE IGUAZU, BRAZIL

We said our goodbyes in Paraguay – and began our journey to Foz De Iguazu in Brazil. We had a lot of stress, Jorg’s Brazil evisa was not approved until the night before we were entering Brazil.

We drove to Asuncion with Frank and Doris. Our timing was uncanny as so much of our family was traveling to Asuncion the same day. We had reservations at a steakhouse for 13 of us. Others we knew in town didn’t join us. Many of us stayed at Veronica’s hotel.

We hitched a ride to dinner with Alf & Wilma. Had a great dinner. Jorg met with Keisha again, Ziggy and Sara had just flown in. We had a great sleep – got up early to head to Iguazu Falls.

We hit so much traffic, it took us forever to get to Iguazu. We stopped at a leprosy hospital that my cousin works at and makes leather shoes from scratch for the patients. We met a 22 year old girl who was born with a disease so she has never walked. They took both her legs from her knees 6 months ago and today was the first day she walked with her new legs. She was super excited, and thrilled to meet us and share her story…. what an experience.

We drove through East Paraguay, how totally beautiful it was! We finally arrived in Iguazu and did the falls. A complete wonder! Absolutely incredible the amount of water that rushes down those falls, and the color is beautiful from the red soil.

We drove downtown to ride the large ferris wheel that overlooks Paraguay, Brazil and Argentina. Then went to another steakhouse for a great dinner.

FRIDAY, NOV 7 – FOZ DE IGUAZU TO RIO DE JANIERO, BRAZIL

We woke up, had a nice breakfast with my dad, Alf and Wilma – then they left. Jorg and I took in some pool time where we (mainly I) burned to a crisp.

Hung out at our hotel, had lunch, and took a flight to RIO. Met Bobby at the airport, one of only 5 attorneys in the U.S. (he lives in Santa Barbara) – who does litigation for airplane crash victims. He was Vanessa Bryant’s attorney for Kobe Bryant’s helicopter crash and got her $100M settlement. Pretty neat who you meet when you travel.

Jorg and I met Jado in RIO. Brazil – we are ready.
